Cooling Tower

Another important application of ozonators is in the field of cooling towers where a lot of money is spent on the descaling of the cooling towers. Ozone is a highly efficient descaling agent. Use of ozone in cooling towers has led to a substantial savings.

Traditional cooling tower water treatment involves chemical treatment with a variety of metallic compounds, organics biocide and Ph stabilizers. Although chemicals can be somewhat effective, biocides the cocktail of chemicals and their by byproducts spoil the quality of water and increase the quantity of blow down thus reducing the cycles of concentration in the cooling tower.

Furthermore bacteria mutate and become resistant to a chemical which necessitates a change in chemicals. Ozone acts as an extremely effective disinfectant and bio film and scale inhibitor. Thus having to clean the chiller tubes to remove bio-fouling is no longer necessary. With Ozone the cycle of concentration can be increased thus saving in make-up water. Also the Blow-down water does not contain concentrated chemical residues and can be safely discharged
